The Town

The town of Henley-on-Thames dates back to the 12th century. It hosted the first university boat race in 1839, and Olympic regattas in 1908 and 1948. Each summer it holds the Henley Royal Regatta, which is not only a highlight for prestigious rowing teams, but also a highlight of the English social calendar.
In central Henley there are many historic buildings, dating back to the 14th century. There are over 300 buildings designated ‘of
special architectural or historical interest'.

The Thames
Henley is a world-renowned centre for rowing, and each summer hosts the Henley Royal Regatta. Near the banks of the Thames is the world famous River & Rowing Museum, and further along a fascinating lock. To walk alongside the Thames on a summer’s evening, to see people playing in the park, or messing about on the river, or simply promenading, is a delight to behold.
The Thames at Henley is a wonderful
place to be! (0.75 miles).
