The Town

Rich in history and character, the market town of Oakham lies at the head of the Vale of Catmose. It is the county town of Rutland, England's smallest county.
It grew up in the shadow of a Norman castle, and now hosts a market every Wednesday and Saturday. Close to Rutland Water, one of Europe's largest man-made lakes, it boasts a parish church which dates back to the 13th century, with an impressive spire which dominates the surrounding countryside.
